The recent Covid-19 (Coronavirus Disease 2019) has decimated our country’s economy, taken lives and jobs, brought some businesses close to extinction – and they can’t recover without everybody’s help.
I love Singapore and I love my food. Which is why I am sharing this post about a fundraising project that our home-grown beer brand: Tiger is spearheading.
Launched on 17th April 2020, #SupportOurStreets is a regional campaign that aims to help local F&B community such as coffee shops, food courts, bars, pubs and restaurants tide through the unprecedented challenges from the growing impact of this pandemic.
As we are all aware, the Covid-19 crisis has caused a severe impact on businesses and the F&B industry has been amongst the most badly affected with some expecting as much as an 80% revenue loss which could result in F&B establishment closures and huge job losses.
Can you imagine a world without your favorite F&B places and dishes? Our hungry need for food will pose a very serious threat to every one – physically and mentally.
Not knowing how this pandemic will play out, I am calling on everyone to join in Tiger’s ‘Support Our Local F&B’ initiative in a bid to raise a collective $1.3 million. This is a crowd-funding initiative that aims to help the local F&B community alleviate the current setbacks and support them in their recovery when they reopen. Every contribution can make a difference and help our favourite local F&B outlet buffer the impact of the crisis.
Tiger has timely set up a crowd-funding page https://supportourfnb.tigerbeer.com.sg/ for your giving.
Running from now till 31 May 2020, consumers can support their favourite local F&B spots by making a $10 contribution through the crowd-funding page. There is no limit on the number of times you may make a contribution. Each week, the contributions are collated and all proceeds will go directly to the participating F&B establishments.
Tiger has started the ball rolling by contributing $100,000 cash into this programme. In addition, Tiger also pledged to contribute up to $600,000 worth in beer product sponsorship to support the recovery of the F&B community.
As a gesture of appreciation from Tiger, each contribution will entitle consumers to a digital drink voucher redeemable for two Tiger beers when the outlet resumes operations to encourage footfall and support the outlet’s restart and revival.
Tiger is doing everything they can to offer support to our local F&B community, but this campaign embodies the spirit of generosity and compassion we need from everyone to meet the challenges presented by the crisis.
In times like these, it’s commendable that Tiger is putting in a substantial contribution themselves. I have also made a contribution and I urge everyone to support this crucial initiative too.
