Less of a rooftop and more an urban penthouse club in the sky, VUE ticks all the boxes for unparalleled views of the city finest’s alongside an impressive spritz cocktail menu.
This trendy rooftop bar and grill restaurant is located on the penthouse of OUE Bayfront on Collyer Quay. Here you have a panoramic view of a big bunch of the most iconic city sights, including the sweeping vistas of Marina Bay and the Singapore skyline. This new hotspot also provides a brilliant view of the Singapore Grand Prix track — so you know where to go when the next Formula 1 Night Race comes!
Other than luxurious views, chef-driven menu and tasty wine pairings are some of the charming experiences you can get here. VUE is a new opening, so the city hordes have yet to discover this watering hole and super chic restaurant, making it all the more appealing.
VUE is the newest venture by OUE Restaurants, the food and lifestyle division of OUE Limited. It is also home to Singapore’s first rooftop spritz bar slinging a whole menu of classic and creative concoctions like VUE Royale, Ispahan, Basil Spritz and Reiwa Highball.
Expect free bar nibbles and canapes that complement aperitivo hour from 5pm to 7pm, with the menu curated by VUE‘s Executive chef Sam Chin.
For the main dining, look out for chef driven offerings made from peak-of-season produce and specifically sourced ingredients such as the very rare Kumamoto Wagyu beef. Touted as the caviar of beef, the magnificent wagyu comes from the ‘land of fire’ in Kumamoto Prefecture, which is also the only place in Japan that produces free-grazing cattle.
At VUE, they specialises in Asian and Western fusion-style small plates and bincho-tan grilled steaks. Choose from American grain-fed USDA Prime Black Angus (Fillet Mignon 180gm $88 / Ribeye 250gm $88) to Japanese A4 grass-fed Black Wagyu (Tenderloin 180gm $138 / Sirloin 150gm $120 / Ribeye 150gm $108).
All steaks are served with onion marmalade, snowflake rice-salt and red wine jus.
To go with the perfectly seared sirloin, try some of the superstar sides and small bites like Creamed Spinach & Parmigiano ($15), Onion Tempura ($12), Charcoal Grilled Garlic Mushrooms ($15), Shishito Peppers, Bottarga ($18), Marble Potatoes ($15) and Roasted Bone Marrow, Truffle ($15).
While steaks are still the #1 choice on the menu, VUE also offers good non-beef options such as Amelia Park Lamb Rack ($52), Bangalow Sweet Pork Rack ($48), Crispy Scale-on Red Tilefish ($48), just to name a few.
The tastefully crafted menu includes a selection of appetisers, raw oysters ($48 half dozen), seafood platter ($128 two to share) and choices of charcuterie ($18 for 80gm).
Do not miss out on the sweets, there are about six different types of delectable desserts ($12 – $18). Try the Chestnut, it’s a beautiful medley of cocoa nib tuile, chestnut mousse, raspberries, chestnut ice cream and fresh truffle shavings.
There is an exclusive hideaway located at the back of the main dining area. Sits up to 12 person, the private dining room is bookable for intimate social gatherings and business dinners.
VUE is slated to open officially on Monday, October 21 2019 for dinners only. There are plans to open for lunch — which should be followed by weekend brunch, of course — after this new destination venue hots up.
