Popular all-day dining establishment Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao debuts a new, revitalised menu which is still focused on Northern Chinese specialities, and with improved flavours. Group Executive Chef Martin Foo oversees the updated menu creation, food presentation and works closely with the team at Crystal Jade‘s multi-dining concepts.
The refreshed menu and inspired creations will be available at all Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao outlets islandwide — Takashimaya Shopping Centre, Jurong Point JP2, Holland Village, Great World City, Bugis Junction, Changi Airport Terminal 1.
To complement the updated menu, the beverage list has a tighter focus on fine Chinese teas such as Shou Mei Wang 寿眉王 and Dong Ding Oolong 冻顶乌龙, each chargeable at $4.80 per person.
The refreshed menu has a lot of creative flair thrown in — locally sourced ingredients and freshly imported food supplies continue to shine in Chef Foo’s creations. New and improved highlights on the menu include dishes like Wuxi Deep-fried White Bait 无锡小鱼儿 ($8.80), Braised Eggplant in Special Sauce 宫廷酱茄子 ($8.30), Shredded Chicken and Bean Starch Sheets in Sesame Sauce 鸡丝粉皮 ($8.80) from the starters section.
The buns and dumplings department gets an upgrade too. You can’t go wrong with divine black truffle dishes, now can be found in the Steamed Black Truffle Xiao Long Bao 黑松露小笼 (4pcs for $11.80), or alternatively, sample the best of all worlds with Signature Assorted Xiao Long Bao 招牌四色小笼包 (4pcs for $9.30) featuring four different fillings include Original, Salted Egg Yolk, Chilli Crab and Truffle.
Fans of Pan-fried Shanghai Pork Buns 上海生煎包 (3pcs for $5.80) can enjoy the Shanghainese speciality snack in Chef Foo’s version — juicy and flavourful pork mixture bun topped with spring onions and sesame seeds.
Other noteworthy dishes from the soup, mains and vegetables section on the updated menu include comforting options like Double-Boiled Chicken Soup with Wanton 原 盅 云 吞 鸡 汤 ($11.80 per person), Shredded Fish Thick Soup 宋嫂鱼羹 ($8.80 per person), Poached Beef in Szechuan Spicy Soup 水煮牛肉 ($22.80), Poached Sliced Fish in Szechuan Spicy Soup 水煮鱼 ($22.80), Braised Minced Pork with Mushroom & Bamboo Shoot 红烧狮子头 ($16.80), Sautéed Egg White with Conpoy & Fish Meat 赛螃蟹 ($15.80) and Sautéed Colourful Vegetable Assortment 荷塘秀 色 ($15.80).
While pulled noodle dishes such as Signature Szechuan Dan Dan La Mian 四川担担拉面 ($10.80), and La Mian with Scallion Oil 葱油拌面 ($7.50) remain as best selling items at Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao, the restaurant also offers a splendid repertoire of rice dishes that include 5 different renditions.
The standout rich dish — Fried Mixed Grain Rice in Hot Stone Pot 石锅五谷炒饭 ($14.80) is a winning combination of white and brown rice with sweet corn, diced mushrooms, crispy silverfish, assorted vegetables and peanuts. Hearty, comforting and guaranteed to become a new family favourite option.
Complete the meal with a selection of new desserts like Japanese Purple Potato Mochi 紫薯麻 (3pcs for $4.80) and Pan-fried Red Bean Banana Pancake 豆沙香蕉锅饼 ($6.80).
