Opened in September 2018, The Wine & Gourmet Friends is on a mission to bring fine wine, gourmet food and good friends together at its 56-seater restaurant housed within a conservation shophouse on Bukit Pasoh Road.

The name explains the concept at Wine & Gourmet Friends — this new Asian-tapas wine bistro is giving the neighbourhood a go for its heartwarming cuisine and handpicked selection of intriguing wines from around the world.

The space boasts a walk-in wine cellar which holds over 300 different styles of wine from over eighty Old and New World wine producers, making it a little tough to decide where to start. The good news is that wine by the glass is served at Wine & Gourmet Friends and diners can choose from a menu of five different styles of wine (sparkling, white, red, rose and sweet) starting from $6 per glass.

Wine aficionados will certainly appreciate wine tasting sessions and appreciation classes on offer — all showcasing the bistro’s exclusive drops from family-run boutique winemakers around the globe, as well as private wine chats with visiting wine producers and representatives.

The owner of The Wine & Gourmet Friends — William Seah, an experienced business operator and wine whizz can also be your personal wine guru for the evening. He is always happy to entertain his guests and offer matching wine and food recommendations.

Taste your way around the world through the diverse range of gourmet wines at The Wine & Gourmet Friends. Budget friendly wines start from as low as $25 per bottle, while the most exquisite bottle cost over $1,888. Either way, the wine selection here will surely satisfy you and your pals.

To enjoy the bottle at its best, William recommends using an Aerating Decanter to bring out the more complex, nuanced flavours of the grapes and helps to separate the wine from any sediment that might have formed. It also acts as a reminder to not serve or mix the wine by mistake.

At The Wine & Gourmet Friends, children are invited to share in wine at meals. The Alain Millat Jus Raisin Blanc Chardonnay and Merlot are a deliciously sophisticated alternative to wine. Made out of fresh fruits, the white and red grape juice features rich autumn fruit aromas and flavours, best served chilled in wine glass — even adults can enjoy.

The menu here hews closer to Asian-style which is adapted from a repertoire of hearty and comforting go-to dishes that Chef Wilson Ang and Chef Gus Wang grew up with.

Come in during lunch for an affordably priced 3-course ($24) set meal or chow down on a selection of hand-crafted burgers such as Otah-Otah Fish Burger ($12), Iberico Pork Chop Burger ($15), Lamb Rendang Burger ($18) and Foie Gras Royale Burger ($35), all served with fries.

The dinner menu hawks a bill of fare that goes beyond bar bites, grilled meat and seafood to other carb-worthy grain and noodle dishes. Expect exciting options like Prawn & Seafood Bite ($12), Foie Gras Lotus Leaf Rice ($18), Black Pepper Crab Noodle ($18), Lamb Trio ($30) and ‘Goreng Pisang‘ ($12).
