Porta has launched a new weekend brunch menu, starting from 1st April. And good news – it is available all the way till 4pm! So all you late risers, rejoice!
New items include the Apple Bacon Pancakes ($16++), which comes with 4 pancakes with generous servings of bacon and green apple slices. The sweet and savoury combination is sure to delight!
Alternatively, the Avocado Toast ($16++) will convert even those who shun avocados. The smooth and creamy avocados are sliced atop walnut toast, drizzled with balsamic reduction and topped with tomato confit and chia seeds. What a healthy way to start your day!
Some sides worth ordering are the Sweet Potato and Kale ($14++) and Charred Prawn ($16++). The kale was crunchy and tasty, and the dish was topped with tahini and walnuts. While the prawns were juicy, I couldn’t help but wish the portion of the dish was a bit bigger…
My favourite appetiser is this Tuna Tartare ($18++). The marination was great – with shallots, herbs, soy dressing and daikon salad – resulting in a very fresh and flavourful raw tuna dish!
Aside from their new brunch menu, there are additions to their ala carte menu too. Mains include the Spring Chicken ($24++) and Braised Beef Short Rib ($28++).
The Norwegian Salmon ($24++) remains a classic here with it being sous vide to perfection and served with spiced pumpkin puree.
Now this Wild Mushroom Orecchiette ($22++) is new to the menu, and a very fantastic dish I’d say! The sauteed mushrooms were so tasty and earthy, and the shell-shaped pasta was apt in retaining the light cream sauce. Top it off with parmesan cheese and you’ve got the perfect mushroom pasta dish!
The desserts fared very well too. The Strawberry and Basil Panna Cotta ($12++) was ingenious as who’d ever think of having a basil-flavoured panna cotta? But it was very light, refreshing and not so sweet. It’s topped with a generous amount of cookie crumbs and strawberry compote. The 5-Spice Apple Crumble ($14++) was also very fragrant due to apples cooked using 5 spices, and again topped liberally with crumble.
The food here at Porta is fresh, tasty, and reasonably priced too. Located beside Fort Canning MRT (DTL), its convenience and accessibility is another pull factor to draw you here for brunch next weekend!
