Splendid New Restaurants, Bars and Cafes – 2017 Edition

For such a small city-state like Singapore, we have a high concentration of eating places range from restaurants, bars and cafes to local eateries, food kiosks and as well as coffee shops.

Some of the most common questions asked of me are, “What’s the latest new openings or the best eats in town?”. I hereby present my list of notable eateries to bring a delicious end to 2017, from newest to newish — starring Sambal Buah Keluak, Tiger Prawn Laksa Lemak, Greenland Coldwater Prawns, NZ Ocean Beef and Wakanui Spring Lamb.

Alley on 25 at Andaz Singapore

A touch of the quirkier side in the world of Hyatt — Andaz is a boutique-inspired lifestyle hotel by Hyatt. The Andaz brand is an exciting new arrival in South East Asia and Singapore is the first destination to have an Andaz hotel in the region.

With five unique shophouse dining concepts and a bar under one roof, Andaz’s Alley on 25 recreates the spontaneous experience of Singapore street-style dining elevated with a stunning skyline view of the city high up on the 25th floor.

Enjoy hearty meals with a twist from a single green beech oven at The Green Oven; feast on modern-Asian barbecue grubs at Smoke & Pepper; be entranced by the chefs at Plancha’Lah! as they whip up a culinary meal over an open hotplate. For something light and easy, the Icehaus offers cold cuts and sustainable seafood; while Auntie’s Wok & Steam serves tze char fare with a refined Sichuan touch.

Serving artisanal sourdough toasts in the morning, healthy grain bowls in the afternoon and speciality coffee from my favorite Sarnies — this newly uncovered cafe Pickleville is located within the beautiful workspaces of The Working Capitol on Robinson Road.

Hidden up on the 4th floor of the commercial building, guests need to take the lift to get here. As its name suggests, Pickleville saves the lives of seasonal herbs, fruits and vegetables by turning them into delicious homemade pickles and serving it on the diner’s grain bowls.

Signature bowls comes in a choice of Chicken, Salmon, Beef or Vegan. Alternatively, you can customise your own rice bowl to your liking.
