NTUC FairPrice Insider Secrets That You Don’t Know

NTUC FairPrice, one of Singapore’s largest grocery retail brand has undergone several rapid changes to make shopping experience even more pleasant and easier.

A parenting zone, the concept of mission-shopping and a pharmacy within the hypermarket are some of the retail enhancements we discovered at the newly revamped FairPrice Xtra outlet at Jurong Point. The hypermarket store also features an expanded self-checkout area and a massive array of organic and fresh produce for their consumers who are trying to live healthier lifestyles.

A few months ago, we went on an insider journey that ventures into the farming industry in Singapore. We visited SkyGreens — Singapore’s first vertical farm and Kok Fah Technology Farm — one of FairPrice‘s green partners to learn about the daily heroes at the farms and understand where our food comes from.

Sky Greens is the world’s first low carbon, hydraulic driven vertical farm. Using green urban solutions to achieve production of safe, fresh and delicious vegetables, using minimal land, water and energy resources.

We had an exclusive peek inside the SkyGreens innovation hub which brings us farm fresh vegetables right after its harvested.

Consumers who like to try the vertically grown vegetables from SkyGreens can find the greens produce at all NTUC FairPrice stores.

Singapore is ranked one of the most high-tech cities in the world (we are ranked #9). And technology has also played a huge part in the local farming industry.

Here at Kok Fah Technology Farm, we were introduced to botany and took on a tour to learn the secret methods used by the farmers.

Here’s a short clip on Kok Fah Technology Farm paved its way into high-tech farming. This is an Automated Seeding Machine, which help farmers complete their work tasks quicker and be more productive.

Kok Fah’s latest addition of the Hydroponics System Greenhouse uses an auto drip irrigation system together with other tech-farming process to increase the production supply in Singapore. Click below to view short clip.

We also had a peek into Kok Fah’s cold chain logistic system and witnessed how composting and packing can be speed up efficiently with the help of technology. Click below to view short clip.

Farms are a magical place for little eyes and hands! Kok Fah Technology Farm offers guided tours and interesting ways to learn about the farm, the countryside and connect with our natural world.

Kok Fah’s Weekend Market is open every weekend from 9am to 5pm. You can find a large variety of locally harvested produce for sale and enjoy Aloe Vera drinks freshly made from the farm.

It was quite an exciting experience for us who never been to a farm before — we didn’t realise we were making memories, we just knew we were having fun that day!
