
AirAsia takes in-flight meals to a whole new level featuring a menu of culinary variety from across the region.
On Monday 22 May 2017, AirAsia hosted more than 200 members of the media and key influencers from 16 markets – Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Singapore, Brunei, India, China, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea and India at the airline’s RedQ headquarters.
The inaugural AirAsia Santan Food Festival is the largest inflight food tasting event in Asia. Guests were treated to a variety of regional-inspired meals prepared by accomplished AirAsia chefs in partnership with Asean F&B enterprises.

Miso Chicken with Garlic Rice
Miso, the slightly salty, traditional Japanese seasoning, accentuates the flavour of our succulent chicken which comes garnished with white sesame seeds and accompanied by garlic rice and vegetables. Guaranteed a definite hit for both young and old!
Roast Chicken Adobo
Philippine’s favourite cuisine marries chicken, vinegar, soy sauce, bay leave and peppercorn that makes this dish a national treasure.
Pak Nasser’s Nasi Lemak
A traditional Malaysian favourite fragrant coconut rice served with Pak Nasser’s special chilli sambal and tender chicken rendang, accompanied with traditional condiments of fried anchovies, crunchy groundnuts and half of a hard-boiled egg.
Green Curry Chicken
Green curry paste combined with coriander and cumin seeds, garlic, shallots, lime rind, coriander root, peppercorns and cooked with chicken and served with Thai Jasmine rice.
Chicken Rice
A Chinese Malaysian favourite of fluffy seasoned rice served with roast chicken and accompanied with Uncle Chin’s special secret chilli, ginger and garlic sauce.
Exotic Mango with Sticky Rice
A Thai meal is not complete till you have this well-loved dessert! Rich sticky glutinous rice is served with luscious honeyed Barracuda mango that’s bound to please with every bite!
Santan Food Festival Highlights
Aiming to stay ahead of the pack by adapting digitalisation into its services and inflight offerings, including the implementation of an electronic point of sales (ePOS) system for a quicker and more efficient way of dealing with its guests.
Datuk Kamarudin Meranun – Executive Chairman, AirAsia Berhad & Group CEO, AirAsia X; Tan Sri Tony Fernandes – Group CEO, AirAsia and Choudhury Hassan Peter – Group Head of Ancillary Revenue, AirAsia shared about the airline’s capabilities to keep up with the changing times.
Besides Santan food tasting and interactive activities, the event also included a cooking demonstration by AirAsia Regional Manager of Group Inflight F&B Chef Calvin Soo, and dance performances by AirAsia AllStars and internet sensation Assraf Nasir, who is an air steward for Air Asia X.
