Which sandwich would you pick from District 10’s new brunch menu?

Sometimes, simpler things are just better, sandwiches included.  District 10 Bar & Restaurant @ UE Square, has recently launched a selection of gourmet sandwiches that make for the perfect weekend brunch.

To start off, drinks!  Somehow, everyone felt really healthy that day, ordering the health booster smoothies!  I got the Dragon Youth ($13++), which was a light, refreshing concoction of dragon fruit, green apple and Japanese cucumber.  The Skin Care ($14.50++) was of course another popular among the girls, featuring a nice blend of apple, pear, Japanese cucumber and lime. Nothing better for a hot sunny day!

Now in terms of the sandwiches, the crowd favourite was the Big B Sandwich ($16++), and we knew that would be the case even as the dish itself was served – you basically had a toasted piece of brioche covered in cheddar cheese, a fried egg and a slice of homemade has brown served with a side of greens.  It might be hard to tell from the picture, but trust me – the smell was phenomenal as well.

We also unanimously came to the conclusion that the Grilled BBQ Pork and Pineapple Sandwich ($16++) was the second best – guess all of us were fans of pineapple with savoury food!  Both the pork and the pineapple were quite juicy, an important element in sandwiches I believe, since it balances out the dryness of the bread itself.

For all you health junkies who go for whole wheat bread, you have the Chicken with Pancetta and Mushroom Sandwich ($16++), which was a hearty combination of ingredients perfect before a weekend workout.  No harm in sneaking in a fry or two, or the entire serving!

I’m sure most of you are familiar with the household favourite – tomato egg.  Think of this Tomato Basil Scrambled Egg ($14++)  as a Western version of that, and served with toasted sourdough instead of white rice.

Finally, we had the Tuna Sandwich ($14++) – yes we had a lot of food.  This was just like a breakfast classic, with tuna mayo served atop a crispy warm croissant.  I’m quite picky with my tuna mayo, i.e. I don’t like it when it’s too moist, but District 10 manages the balance quite well.

Last but not least, I have to mention that this particular outlet of District 10 also features an outdoor patio space as well as a bouncy castle* (that I really wanted to go on!!), making it perfect for family gatherings and birthday parties over the weekend.  If you decide to head there, you might see me jumping around in the bouncy castle as well!

*The bouncy castle is only available on weekends and public holidays from 9am to 4:30pm.
