AROME is an unassuming new French bistro at Wild Market that does brilliant set meal for around $15.90. For that un-princely sum, you get to choose a first course and a main entree.
There’s a good selection of appetisers and entrees. None cost more than $16.90 – the signature French Duck Confit with lentil de puy, braised purple cabbage and grilled pear, for example, is only $13.90. Appetisers are priced below $8.90 – including the pan seared Foie Gras with red wine apple and toast.
If you are willingly to pay a little more for a good steak, go for the Bavette ($19.90) with truffle pomme puree or take your French dining experience up a notch with chef’s choice of Grilled Black Angus Beef Ribeye ($29.90 for 200gm / $54.90 for 400gm).
AROME is conceptualised to offer affordable French cuisine made from fresh quality ingredients sans the fancy frills. Owner-chef Huei Oei takes a modern approach to the classic French fare and serves up his rendition of haute cuisine.
It gets a little difficult to suggest one dish that you must try at AROME, as there are simply too many favourites to mention. To name a few, the French Duck Confit; Salmon Risotto; Asian Braised Beef Short Rib; and the 36-hours cooked Mangalica Pork Belly are recommended and will certainly hit the spot.
