Tiong Bahru Bakery at Raffles City reopens its doors after several months of construction and is now breathing a new life, starting at its heart – the kitchen. The redesign made it more of a sit-down restaurant with full table service in a more relaxing atmosphere.
Do check out the old school Jotterbook which is a print of the original hand-rendered menu. Food has become much more sophisticated and high quality, but remained in a fast and casual setting.
The menu has been completely recrafted with the addition of many new interesting flavors under the ‘Hot Eats‘ and “Great Salads‘ section. The revamped menu is focused more on healthy inventive dishes yet appetising to make the overall dining experience better.
The ‘Hot Eats’ menu available exclusively at the Raffles City outlet features captivating dishes such as Chocolate Croissant Pain Perdu ($16) – a decadent chocolate French Toast made on croissant with charred balsamic pineapple; and Polenta Pop ($16) – thick crunchy Polenta made with cornmeal and cheese, served with red pepper sauce and fried organic NZ egg makes a quick meal option.
For a light and vegan-free diet, try the Quinoa Farmer’s Plate ($14) or the Smoked Coco Club Sandwich ($15) – composed of Multi-seed bread, smoked coconut ‘bacon’, marinated tofu, juicy tomatoes and cashew aioli, alongside purple potato crisps with a dash of salt.
The Instagram-worthy Rainbow Bowl ($16) – combines wild rice and brown rice with kimchi, mixed sprouts and salsa verde, purple potato crisp plus a poached organic NZ egg definitely adds a different taste and texture from the regular grain bowls and it’s got a spicy kick to it.
In keeping with the healthy vibes, the menu also offers a selection of ‘Great Salads‘ such as Roasted cured Salmon Salad ($16) with pea shoots, lychee and toasted buckwheat; or charred Cauliflower & Chicken Salad ($16) in tahini dressing. I am a lover of kale, therefore the Killer Kale Salad ($14) in tangy lemon-miso dressing definitely earned its status as my favourite salad at Tiong Bahru Bakery.
The drinks menu didn’t changed much. You can still get a good coffee fix, including the addition of fresh healthy juices. Other viennoiseries such as signature Kouign Amann and croissant, savouries like croque monsieur and chicken mushroom quiche, as well as dessert cakes and tarts are available for dine-in and takeaways.
