Marriott Cafe has always been well-known for its international buffet and awesome spread of fresh seafood. This August, Korean food fever comes to Marriott Cafe, as guest chefs from JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul prepare various Korean favourites to spice up the regular buffet menu.
One of my favourites is the Andong-style Chicken Stew in Soy Sauce, where the chicken and mushrooms are stewed until perfectly tender, with potatoes and carrots that melt in your mouth.
If you enjoy pork belly, you will love Pork Belly Bossam, which is flavourful due to being boiled in spices.
The Beef Bulgogi is the usual crowd-pleaser – well-marinated and tender.
The Roast Chilli Halibut Fillet provides an appetizing kick in an addictive spicy sauce.
We also got to try the Kimchi Pancakes which paired well with the accompanying soy sauce mix, and the Bok Choy Namul, which was well-seasoned.
For those who love comfort food, the Beef Turnip Soup is available at the noodle station, where the chef will prepare a bowl for you with your choice of a variety of ingredients, including noodles, vegetables and mushrooms.
Korean desserts on the menu include Red Bean Soup with chewy mochi balls, and Yakgwa, a traditional fried Korean pastry delicately scented with ginger.
Other than the Korean dishes, Marriott Cafe offers its usual fresh seafood spread, as well as a large assortment of desserts to tempt your tastebuds. The Taste of Korea buffet runs until 31 August 2016, so head down now to get your fix!
