Tap into your beer at Starker for the best tasting light brews and good grub

From German-style fresh brews and flavoured beers to grub standards, music and ambience, Stärker ticks plenty of boxes. The name Stärker comes from the German word “Stronger”, – to symbolise the revival of an old-world style beer drinking in modern vibrancy of life that many has yet experienced.

The vibe: The outlet at Holland Village is vibrant and casual, mixing the style of a fast food joint and a beer bar. The bar tables and chairs are perfect for giving meals a little lift. Feel free to sing along with the talents of live bands that amp up the vibe on weekdays.

What’s on tap: Stärker features 5 unique brews – Lager, Dunkel, Charcoal, Aromatic and Lychee. Lager and Dunkel are Stärker’s award winning and recognised beers; the sweet tasting notes of the Lychee flavoured beer made it an easy favourite for ladies; while Aromatic has a light scent of herbs and fruits; and Charcoal is a straightforward brew of fresh roasted flavour.

What’s on the menu: Stärker dishes out a couple of German signatures infused with its award-winning beer, as well as an array of international cuisine, alongside freshly brewed beer served in traditional wooden barrels.

Strker Signature dishes include Traditional Pork Knuckle, Crispy Roasted Pork BellyStärker Classic Wings, Seafood Pizza and Stärker Fried Onion. Guests can also enjoy new lip-smacking dishes from the revamped menu such as Singapore-style Chilli Crab Sliders, Sweet Potato FriesKing Prawn Pasta and Braised Pork Knuckle.

Our favourite picks: The Traditional Pork Knuckle ($38.80) has to be one of the best Stärker dishes to share with friends over a barrel of fresh beer. The pork knuckle is delicately marinated and roasted to perfection, resulting in a crispy outer skin with moist and succulent flesh on the inside; served with Sauerkraut, creamy mashed potato, crisp salad and authentic Stärker beer sauce on the side – every bite is to die for!

Another crowd pleaser is Stärker‘s signature Crispy Roasted Pork Belly ($14.80). The pork belly yields beautiful layers of fats and meat which melts in your mouth and the crisp crackling skin – it’s really so hard to resist!

While Stärker‘s beer marinated Classic Wings ($10.80) stays strong as one of the most popular choice among the regulars, we love more of the heat and fire that the Fiery Wings ($13.80) can deliver. The Sweet Potato Fries with Salted Egg Sauce ($9.80) and pasta dishes like the King Prawn Pasta ($19.80) are also not to be missed.

As for the beers, they need no further introduction – go for the clean and crisp Lager or Dunkel if you like it dark, they are both good in equal measures. And for the ladies, the Lychee flavoured beer will probably be a hit for you!

If you are planning to visit Stärker, go hungry and bring a few friends – it will be hard to limit yourself to a couple of dishes.
