Crystal Jade Prestige Unveils An Elevated Night Of Refined And Contemporary Chinese Dining

For an elevated night of refined Chinese dining, Crystal Jade’s latest brand concept Crystal Jade Prestige offers a combination of traditional and contemporary dishes that really does tempt the tastebuds.

The Chinese restaurant is located on the second floor of Marina Bay Financial Centre (Ground Plaza), it offers a picturesque view of the surrounding city through floor-to-ceiling glass windows along the main dining hall, as well as the option for a more intimate dining experience in one of the four private dining rooms – ideal for hosting business luncheons or gathering with friends and family.

The venue is encompassed by oriental lattice work and abstract art pieces tied in with contemporary design elements, boasting a chic but relaxed atmosphere to indulge in a scrumptious feast or an intimate dinner.

The delicacies at Crystal Jade Prestige is as classy as the atmosphere. The key to these cuisines is flavour, in very robust doses – dishes like the charming Tea Smoked Roasted Duck, luscious Lobster & Seafood Tomato Thick Soup and Roasted Baby Suckling Pig each hold special allure that draws the oohs and ahhs.

The dishes are further piqued to showcase the aesthetics genre of the restaurant’s cuisine. Expertly prepared and artfully plated, every dish is designed aesthetically appealing to influence flavour and capture diners’ attention.

Extensive both in size and menu, Crystal Jade Prestige tables an inspired repertoire of provincial specialities that have been refined with modern culinary techniques. Standout dishes include the Tea Smoked Roasted Duck ($78/whole), where the bird is first marinated for a day and pumped with rich smoke from the special blend of premium Pu-er tea leaves and spices. Fire-roasting brings out the natural flavours and keeps the skin crisp and golden tanned. The beautiful fowl is then carved table-side into three parts; highlighting the crispy skin, moist thigh meat and succulent breast meat, served with soft crepes.

The Roasted Baby Suckling Pig rolled with Black Truffle Pearl Rice ($20/pc, $168/half or $328/whole) is no-less prowess, featuring roulade of suckling pig crackling cradling plump grains of Japanese short-grain pearl rice infused with aromatic truffle and abalone sauce – you might be hard-pressed when you see the price tag, but it is definitely worth trying this heavenly creation.

The Lobster & Seafood Tomato Thick Soup served in Coconut ($28) is all noble and takes a tasty twist on Chinese cuisine. Spices and tomato-based broth combine with succulent chunks of lobster and fresh scallops create the perfect back drop for the seafood which isn’t overpowered by the soup. I finished every last drop of the soup to get at the sweet tender strips of coconut flesh with just a porcelain spoon. You may want to request for a metal spoon, if you find the scraping task too tough.

Other seafood creations including special items on the menu has its attractions too. The Deep-fried Scallop with Salted Egg Yolk and Chilled Organic Tomato served with Avocado Sauce ($20) is a treat – not too heavy on the salted egg yolk batter, good sweetness ratio on the tomatoes and avocado mayo and expertly cooked Hokkaido scallop which was so plump, juicy and tender.

The Pan-fried Beancurd with Black Truffle Sauce ($8.80) features a slab of homemade squid ink tofu coated in breadcrumbs and drizzled with a heady truffle-accented mushroom sauce. The hearty staples of rice and noodles get a shiny star for its Baked Crispy Glutinous Rice with Scallop ($12), and the Pan-fried Minced Fish Noodle with Scallop ($12) was memorable, and I can taste the rich umami flavours from the springy fish paste noodles tossed in prawn stock reduction.

Crystal Jade Prestige‘s reputation stretches beyond its outstanding mains, the lunchtime menu comprises a selection of innovative dim sum creations that are equally compelling. Desserts range from classic favourites such as Almond Cream with Snow Lotus to refreshing and exquisite treats like Yogurt Pudding and the Trio Dessert on Ice ($14.50) – tasting portions of Aloe Vera with Lemongrass Jelly, Chilled Mango Puree with Pomelo & Sago and Chilled Black Sesame with Coconut Milk ($6.50 a la carte).
