Celebrate the festive season with a decadent dinner of French classics such as foie gras, oysters, chestnuts and wines at Angelina tearoom.
Two special menus to choose from – a 3-Course Set at $60++ per pax and a 4-Course Set at $70++ per pax.
Some highlights from the 3-Course Set Menu. Inclusive of a starter, a main and a dessert. Available all-day from 1 to 31 December 2015.
Chestnut & Madeira Velouté – Roasted chestnuts with chicken-based creamy soup infused with Madeira (a fortified Portuguese wine), topped with milk foam, and adorned with edible flowers. A velvety and creamy soup with nutty nuance. So good I finished till the last drop.
Pan Seared Foie Gras, Rhubarb Compote, Fruits Toast – Pan-seared foie gras in between two fruits toast with rhubarb compote on a bed of pistachio crumble. The tartness of the rhubard compote cuts through the richness of the buttery foie gras. The fruits toast and crumble adds texture and crunch to the dish.
Baked Angus Beef Au Poivre, Forest Mushroom Fricassée – Angus beef steak coated with loosely crushed pepper. Served with creamy braised forest mushroom sauce.
As for the 4-Course Set, it is only available on 24 and 25 December 2015. Reservations required.
Duo of Oysters (Baked Rockefeller and Fresh) – Scottish oysters two ways. Baked Rockefeller, a renowned baked oyster dish topped with a mixture of fennel, onion, spinach, cheese and baked. Freshly shucked oyster with a squeeze of lemon. Perfect way to start your Christmas meal.
Roast Turkey, Garlic Potato Mash, Cranberry & Madeira Reduction – Turkey breast marinated and cooked in a blend of aromatic herbs and spices. Served with smooth and creamy garlic mash potato and cranberry-Madeira sauce. I was pleasantly surprised by the tender and moist turkey breast.
A French meal ain’t complete without desserts. Tried some of Angelina’s signature and new desserts.
Paris-New York ($13) – A spin on the French dessert, Paris-Brest. Choux pastry filled with dollops of pecan praline light cream and crunchy pecan praline.
Eclair Mont-Blanc ($12) – Choux pastry filled with light chestnut mousse and topped with chestnut cream vermicelli.
Tarte au citron ($10) – Sweet pastry tart base with tangy lemon cream and vanilla marshmallows.
Flore ($13) – A new dessert from the Fall-Winter collection. Flore, french for flora, a visually appealing deep red cake combining fresh notes of raspberries with light texture of vanilla mousse.
Le Mont-Blanc ($14) – The signature dessert of Angelina. A combination of meringue base, light whipped cream centre and topped with chestnut cream vermicelli.
Cheesecake citron ($13) – Light cheesecake mousse with crunchy lemon shortbread base, almond biscuit and lemon-lime confit.
End your meal with a pot of tea. We tried Mont-Blanc Tea, Angelina’s Special Flavoured Tea as well as the seasonal Christmas Tea.
Mont-Blanc Tea ($9.50) – A blend of black tea with candied chestnuts, biscuit, toffee, orange blossom and apricot flavours. Slightly malty with fruity nuance sans astringency.
Angelina’s Special Flavoured Tea ($9.50) – Oolong tea with pineapple pieces, marigold and carthamus petals. A well-balanced fruity-flora tea. My favourite among the three.
Christmas Tea ($44 for 125g) – A special blend of Chinese and Sri Lankan black tea with festive flavours of orange peels, flower petals and gingerbread flavour for sale at the boutique. A perfect balance of warm, spicy sweetness and bright citrus notes. Also available in a pot at the restaurant.
If tea is not your cup of tea (pun intended), try their Old-Fashioned Hot Chocolate “L’Africain” ($13 a pot) served with Chantilly cream. Indulge in a creamy and luscious thick hot chocolate after your meal.
Angelina also offers limited edition gift sets over at their boutique. One can choose to buy the products individually or grab a White Christmas Limited Edition Hamper ($180) as a gift for loved ones. The White Christmas Limited Edition Hamper features a limited edition white box, Christmas tea, Christmas hot chocolate bottle, an assortment of 19 chocolates and a limited edition chestnut cream.
