Brickworks Taco, a humble stall within a coffee shop in Jalan Bukit Merah offers a no-frills fast-casual American taqueria experience, serving classic and premium tacos, quesadilla and sides that doesn’t cost you a small fortune. The stall is owned by an American who walked away from his suit-and-tie corporate career to start a dream business in the food industry. Kameron, a passionate foodie shares his love about the fast food staple from the Southwestern United States.
Geographically defined where American tacos were reinvented, you can expect a great deal of flavours and influences from the states like Arizona, Colorado, Texas and New Mexico. Kameron’s version of the American tacos comes in two types, featuring the Classic Chicken Tinga Tacos and Vegetable Tacos; and Premium Mexican Beef Tacos and Grilled Fish Tacos.
Presented in a pair of tacos at $5 (classic) and $6 (premium) respectively, each comes with a choice of small side – Mexican Rice, Chips and Salsa, or Refried Beans. A full side portion for the Mexican rice, refried beans and grilled street-style corn are priced at $1.50 each; while the chips and salsa goes for $2.50 only.
Chicken Tinga Taco ($2.50 each / $5 for a pair) – Slow roasted chicken wrapped in freshly roasted corn tortillas, topped with zesty salsa and fresh vegetables.
Mexican Beef Tacos ($3 each / $6 for a pair) – Mexican spiced beef wrapped in freshly roasted corn tortillas, topped with zesty salsa and fresh vegetables.
Chicken Quesadillas ($4.50 each) – Grilled tortilla sandwich with tender chicken strips and melted Monterey Jack cheese.
Mexican Rice ($1.50) – Mexican style rice with fragrant herbs
Refried Beans ($1.50) – Classic combination of creamy pinto and black beans.
Chips and Salsa ($2.50) – Freshly fried corn tortilla chips with homemade fresh tomato salsa dip.
Grilled Street Style Corn ($1.50) – Grilled and toasted corn on the cob with mayonnaise, chilli and cheese
There truly is nothing better than cheap and good eats in the neighbourhood. What Kameron’s doing is to allow local Singaporeans and other food lovers to sample authentic American Tacos without actually having to pay for exorbitant prices. Kameron thinks that good quality food shouldn’t be made expensive – I totally agree with his thoughts.
