Open seven days a week, speciality coffee house Oriole Coffee + Bar has a second outlet in the heart of the city. Like its flagship restaurant, the outlet in Capitol Piazza Neue combines three distinct concept – coffee & dessert bar, all day cafe and a takeaway via the Grab & Go counter – all within the one premises.
Tucked in a comfortable corner on the second level of Capitol Piazza Neue, Oriole Coffee + Bar is certainly set to be the perfect dining spot for customers seeking a quaint respite from the city.
To experience the culinary artistry of chefs and baristas at the cafe, a curated menu featuring Oriole Coffee + Bar favourites will be available at this second outlet. Diners can also look forward to some exclusive Capitol dishes at the new outlet.
Brunch lovers will be pleased to know that breakfast is served all day at this new Capitol outlet. Start your day right with a fresh crunchy Waldorf Salad ($11) or healthy dishes like Avocado and Toast ($14) – crushed avocado and smoked tomatoes on focaccia bread, topped with basil leaves.
For something a little bit decadent, savour the Espresso Hotcakes ($12) featuring fluffy pancakes with Oriole’s expresso mascarpone butter and maple syrup served on the side.
Special mention goes out to the “Capitol Exclusives”, my favourite dish – Warm Spinach Salad ($18) comprising a portobello confit, crispy serrano jamon, cherry tomato confit, poached egg and shaved parmesan tossed with truffle balsamic vinaigrette. The salad is topped with shaved black truffles for that added extravagance.
Can’t get enough of the alluring portobello mushroom? Continue to sink your teeth into the satisfying Portobello Confit ($17) on a delectable sandwich which is dressed up with sun-dried tomato compote, buffalo mozzarella with basil pesto and baby spinach.
Hearty classic Oriole favourites like Fish & Chips ($20) – battered fresh snapper fillets with Oriole-spiced fries; Beef Cheek Tagliatelle ($22) – pasta with slow-braised red wine and citrus beef cheek, mushrooms, drizzled with shallot oil; and Capellini Crabmeat ($26) – pasta with fresh chunky crabmeat and piquillo peppers served aglio olio style, are available to satiate your hunger.
What’s not to be missed is another favourite of mine, the Reuben ($17) served with Oriole-spiced fries and tossed greens. The tantalizing sandwich features housemade coffee-cured salt beef and sauerkraut clasped between grilled rye bread with melted swiss cheese and mustard mayo.
Desserts are definitely the perfect way to complete a delicious meal. Two new and exclusive desserts are added to the menu, in addition to the signature Oriole desserts – available at the Capitol outlet.
You should not miss out the Waffles, Ice Cream & Caramelised Banana ($14) – fresh and crisp waffles served with caramelized banana, coffee mascarpone and a generous scoop of vanilla bean ice cream.
Or for something rich in espresso and good for sharing, try the Oriole’s Angel Cake ($14), featuring a coffee-textured cake infused with signature house blends, topped with chocolate crunch sprinkles, chocolate jelly, crushed meringue and an espresso crème anglaise core.
Coffee lovers can continue to enjoy Oriole’s gourmet coffee offerings at the new outlet. Take pleasure in the Taisho series – delicate flavours brought out by steeping ground coffee in cold filtered water for hours.
The signature in-house cold-brewed coffee comes in Black ($6), White ($7) or with M.A.D. Milk ($8). M.A.D. Milk, the cold-pressed non-dairy nut concoction of macadamias, almonds and dates, is also available on its own ($10).
Oriole Coffee + Bar also retails hand roast fresh gourmet coffee beans and coffee equipments at the Capitol outlet. Choose from any of the three varieties of coffee beans – Raven Blend ($18 per 250g), Colombia Cafesur ($25 per 250g) and Burundi Sehe ($23 per 250g).
