Meat The Surgeon @ District 10 at Suntec City

At the latest concept of District 10 at Suntec City, steak lovers can see a variety of prime cuts and enjoy a good steak for far less money which makes them supremely happy and satisfied.

Customers can pick their choice of meats and cuts from the charcoal grill menu, or simply opt for main courses like the Slow Roasted Barossa Valley Shiraz Wagyu Beef Short Ribs ($44++); Dry Aged Black Angus Beef Ragout with Porcini Mushrooms Pappardelle ($34++); Ridgewood style Chicken Parmiagiano ($32++) or the Milanese style Veal Ossobuco with Soft Potato Mousse ($42++).

On display are Dry Aged Black Angus OP Ribs; Grassfed NY Strip Steak; Lardo nostrano; Charcuterie such parma ham, prosciutto, salami veneto; gourmet cheese and fresh organic tomatoes air flown from Australia.

What separates District 10 from other steakhouses in Suntec City is that the restaurant uses only dry aged beef and simple seasoning that were paid off with big flavours. The meat surgeon Chef Luca knows his cows very well, shared about his method of ageing meat which required ample temperature controlled storage and took him a lot of labor and time.

With a proud display of whole ribs of beef and a peek-through glass window showcasing the charcoal grill works in the kitchen, you already know that you are in the right place.

The menu at District 10 at Suntec City is compact, however the restaurant’s high quality produce would do well to win over the palates of the discerning customers. Just a week into its opening, the restaurant has seen returning customers and a good influx of office tower executives during lunch and after-work hours.

Prices from the grill start from as low as $18 per 100 gram for the pure Black Angus 45 Days Dry Aged Grass Fed Rib Eye; $34++ for Paradise Valley Free Range Canadian Pork Chop and $38++ for the Australian Tomahawk Lamb Chop.

Accompanying sides and appetisers include Artisan Cold Cuts Platter with Condiments ($26++); Puglia Burrata with Organic Cherry Tomatoes and Basil Bruschetta ($26++); aromatic Truffle Fries ($12++) and creamy Truffle Mash ($14++) serves well with a glass of tipple from the extensive list of wines, spirits, beers and District 10 signature cocktails.

Desserts are classic Italian sweets with a modern twist featuring a silken smooth Double Espresso Panna Cotta with Vanilla creme ($12++) and the Bitter Chocolate Layer with Marshmallow Fluff and Caramelised Bananas ($14++), sort of like a deconstructed S’mores cake.

What intrigues me the most, apart than the good food at District 10 was actually Chef Luca. He is not a butcher but a witty guy who can come up with all the fabulous cuts of meat and presents an entirely different story of a butcher store of the past. He’s quite a funny guy too and just about everything he does will crack you up.

Not to scare you off but just sharing a cautionary advice, especially to parents with young children – try not to stare too long or go too close to the meat counter when the surgeon is working on the carcass, as those sharp blades and chopper knives have no eyes and can be quite intimidating to some extent.

Other than that, District 10 at Suntec City is definitely a worthy visit for all meat lovers.
