49 Seats – The Legendary Tom Yam Seafood Pasta

49 Seats – Strongly upholding its brand which features the signature metal gate, metal mugs, metal plates and hanging lights, the casual dining establishment takes pride on its well perceived identity. With no GST and service charge, 49 Seats offers a variety of western fusion dishes and a good selection of beers and alcoholic beverages, there is no better way to enjoy your meal at greater value than most eateries.

The third outlet of 49 Seats centrally located at Bugis+ remains affordable and easier to enjoy than ever before. The new Bugis+ outlet including the Orchard Central outlet are both open daily for lunch and dinner, whereas the main outlet at Chinatown is open for dinner and supper only. The menu for all the outlets are the same, featuring the popular Tom Yam seafood pasta, Creamy Smoked Duck Pasta, Old Fashioned Fish and Chips and more.

Drinks served in signature metal mugs

Do you know that 49 Seats has about 10 signature must try dishes and not just one or two? We probably tried everything on the menu, except for desserts as it was not available when we were there. Featured here are all the must-try items (except the beef) recommended by 49 Seats. Did you see any of your favourite dishes below and what do you think my votes would be?

Combo – Fries, Onion Rings, Fried Wings, Calamari, Chicken Nuggets ($29.90)
Fish Bites (10 pc $9.90)
Golden Escargots (8 pc $9.90)
Tom Yum Seafood Pasta ($14.90)
Smoked Duck Aglio Olio ($14.90)
Seafood Marinara ($13.90)
Sirloin Steak with Black Pepper Sauce $19.90
Old Fashioned Fish and Chips with Al Scampi ($16.90)
Chicken Chop with Mushroom Sauce $13.90

49 Seats serve a good range of light bites, pastas and main courses. No matter what your choices, there is always something exciting to look forward to. I would strongly recommend the light bites – Cheese fries (must order), Popcorn chicken (not featured) and Fish bites.

For mains, you must go for the legendary Tom Yam pasta if you are a spicy lover. We love the special blend of the tom yam which gives the pasta an irresistibly creamy taste. You can also try the best selling Creamy smoked duck pasta (we requested for aglio olio instead of cream base); and for the rest of the mains they were cooked just right, but weren’t exciting enough. As for desserts, we didn’t get to try any, but there are just three selections on the menu – Wicked brownie with ice cream, Classic banana spilt and Waffle with ice cream.

What struck me most was the value, all the dishes are priced below $20 nett except one dish – the Sirloin Al Scampi at $24.90 (not featured). 49 Seats is super affordable for students and adults alike, this casual dining place is definitely good for groups, however reservations are recommended.
